I currently do not have any workshops scheduled in my studio at this time. Please check back for updates on workshop offerings!
Email me to be added to a notification list for future monotype workshops.
This multi-session workshop will explore monotype techniques made famous by such artists as William Blake, Edgar Degas and Marc Chagall. I will provide a brief overview of the history of this 400-year-old art form where a one-of-a-kind image is printed from a smooth (scratch-less and nonporous) printing plate. You will learn to create your own monotype prints using direct paint methods in single and multiple layers. Bring lots of ideas and sketches as this process encourages the prolific creation of unique and colorful prints both with and without the use of an etching press. Students will be using oil-based inks and paints, so they should be sure to bring a smock or wear clothing that can get stained.
An email with specific details and reminders will be sent out to students approximately one week ahead of the first workshop date.
All prints in my shop are original works of art that have been designed and hand-printed by me. I use oil-based printing inks and Rives BFK paper, unless otherwise noted. Due to the nature of reduction woodcuts (the block is destroyed during the process), there will never be more prints produced beyond the listed edition number. When they sell out, I cannot make any more. Consider yourself warned! For other less limited printmaking techniques, such as single-layer woodcut, collagraph or drypoint, please know that I hold to the same ethic in regard to edition size.
Most works in my online shop are available for sale either framed or unframed. Large format works are only available for sale unframed due to the increased risk of damage during shipping. I custom frame each piece with acid-free matting materials, regular glass* and aluminum frames. I use white mats and black frames, intended to highlight the artwork. If you prefer a different mat/frame/glass style, please order unframed work and seek out assistance at your local frame shop.
* Please note that UV glass is NOT required for protection of my prints. The use of any glass at all is solely to protect the piece from dust, moisture, puncture, etc. The pigments in my oil-based inks are just as light-fast as an oil painting on canvas. Would you place an oil painting behind UV glass? I didn't think so...
Please, no returns or exchanges on purchased prints. Contact me right away if you suspect any shipping damage. I cannot be held responsible for stolen packages.
Instructor Cancellations - If I must cancel a class for illness or emergency, you will be informed as soon as possible and your payment will be refunded in full. I assume no responsibility for any losses incurred due to lodging or travel arrangements.
