GREAT RIVER PRESS, STOCKHOLM, WI (coming soon!)

ADDRESS: W12103 State Hwy 35, Stockholm, WI 54769

For several years, I have been thinking about how to secure a thriving future for my artistic practice in these tumultuous times. Out of these musings, I came to two conclusions: First, despite keeping my studio in the city for almost two decades, my work has remained deeply rooted in the wilds of nature. For the sake of my creative soul, I needed to find a way to get physically back to that environment. Second, in order to financially secure my studio practice and insulate it from the unpredictability of the world in which we now find ourselves, I needed to own, rather than rent, my studio space.

With these needs in mind, I happened upon the perfect solution last fall in a small commercial building in the artsy river town of Stockholm, Wisconsin. In December of 2025, I purchased that lovely building overlooking the Mississippi River as it runs through Lake Pepin and meanders between the picturesque bluffs it helped to create. I have been spending the time since planning and preparing to move my studio back to nature and my small-town roots.

While my studio practice will be leaving the city, I will continue living on the east side of Saint Paul in the beautiful, diverse, and vibrant community I have come to love deeply. I do not view this studio move as an exodus, but rather as a return to nature and an embrace of the artistic inspiration which has always driven my work.

My working studio won’t be leaving Northeast Minneapolis just yet! I have a lot of work to do to prepare for the big move. I also have many ideas that need to become woodcuts for my upcoming exhibition at Seasons Gallery (Hudson, WI) in June. So, I am keeping my current studio in the Thorp Building through Art-A-Whirl this coming May. To allow myself flexibility to work on preparations for the move to Stockholm, my Northeast Minneapolis studio will only be open on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm or by appointment.

My new studio and gallery, Great River Press, will softly open in Stockholm June 5-7, 2026 for Fresh Art Tour with a Grand Opening Celebration planned for July 25. I anticipate being open weekends throughout the summer and fall. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more updates, sneak peeks at my new building, and process images of all the new woodcuts on which I’m toiling away!

THORP BUILDING MAP & PARKING INFO

When visiting my studio, you are welcome to find parking behind the building along the railroad tracks between 18th and Central. This parking fills up quickly, however, so additional street parking can be found in the neighborhood to the north. Dock 14 provides the closest entrance to my studio, with just a short set of four exterior stairs to climb. An at-grade entrance is located on the north side of Diamonds Coffee Shoppe off of a small 30-minute parking lot. Alternatively, there is a Metro Transit Bus Route 10 stop at the intersection of 18th and Central. Bike racks are located outside of Diamonds Coffee Shoppe.
