My series of six "Treeline" woodcuts explores various horizon lines that show some element of human influence on the landscape. Treeline No. 5 examines the Lombardy poplar windbreaks that have been planted across the Midwest since the dust bowl. While they were initially planted to reduce wind erosion, they have become iconic in their representation of farmland. This piece hints at their original purpose which is often forgotten.
